Shit, this fight wasn't going how I wanted it to. I thought we would be fine as a team, all of us, because we'd trained together endlessly at the academy, but it wasn't like that. This was different. The demons were different, harder, much cleverer. They were doing something to confuse us, so neither of us really knew where we were or what we were doing. It made it harder to fight because it was hard to tell who we and where the attacks were coming from even with our amazing owl eyesight.

This was messed up. I didn't know if we were going to survive it. I kept thinking to myself that it was such a shame we weren't yet a harem. We should have fought harder to make sure that Angie picked us all so much sooner. Then, we might have been able to fight these assholes and actually taken them down. Right now, though, we were definitely struggling, it was obvious. I was so scared that we were going to lose someone.

With steely determination, I told myself that it would be me that died if it had to be anyone. The other guys were too incredible to lose. The world needed them; some harem somewhere needed them. If I had to sacrifice myself, I would.

I steadied myself. It was time to go in and bring all the focus on me just in case. It really was starting to get to the point where I needed to attack.

"Mark..." A bolt of bright light shot through the sky, bursting through the dark shadowy clouds surrounding us. "Pierce, Chase, Perry, Angie..."

Shit, it was Katie. She had her harem with her, which should have been an amazing thing, but it wasn't. Because we were losing and also because I had no idea where Angie was. Perry had whipped her away from danger and rejoined the fight, so I could only assume that all was well, but still, I was afraid.

The darkness swirled faster. I could immediately tell that the demons were panicked now because we had an actual harem with that added power joining in with the fight. They could just about hold their own with me and the guys because of all the confusion surrounding us and swallowing us up whole, but now, they were outnumbered and outmatched. Katie and her harem's appearance had ignited a new fire under us, and we all fought with everything that we had.

The chaos surrounding us only moments ago began to calm down as we fought the demons into submission one by one. I had started to feel disheartened beforehand, fearing that we were going to all die and let the academy down, but now I had another boost and I fought. I gave it my all, pecking each and every demon that got in my way. It was with relief that I accepted I might not have to die after all...

"No!" What was that? "No, stop."

A scream that rocketed through my body shattered through the sky.
